Behind the scenes

Preston C. Fowlkes, Sr.

Creator of the Legacy

Preston Sr. was born in Marfa, Texas and in 1949 moved to Franklin, Tn. He started the first rodeo and history began. Then the rodeo was called Preston C. Fowlkes Rodeo. He was a 'cowboy's cowboy' in ever sense of the word.

Karen & Preston C. Fowlkes, Jr.

Matriarch & Innovator

Preston & Karen are the glue that has held the family legacy together. Preston changed the way rodeo is viewed today. For 40 years he added the entertainment aspect for the spectators focusing on clowns and dress acts to wow the crowds alongside the rodeo competition. They moved the family to Crofton, Ky in 2003 where the Ranch resides.

Clint, Vanessa, Cutter & Oralee Madison

The Backbone

Vanessa & Clint help keep the rodeo on the go. Clint takes care of the livestock at the ranch and on the road as well as helps promote the rodeo. Cutter & Oralee have grown up showing in the rodeo arena and are a vital part of the rodeo crew. Vanessa competes and partners with her mom with the Lone Star Western Mall souvenirs.

Preston C. Fowlkes, III, Jessica & Wilder

Heavy Lifters

Preston III learned every aspect of the rodeo at a young age. He would rather be working than talking so you will find him hauling the livestock in his semi, loading and unloading chutes and arena panels, working the backpens and everything in between. Jessica is a rodeo performer as well and in her spare time is always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed to get the job done. Wilder and Farrah are following in the Fowlkes family tradition of being raised on the rodeo road.

Rachel, Bradley, Maddie & Mason Boyd

Follow Through

Rachel enjoys the nuts and bolts of the rodeo and making it all come together to one cohesive show. She heads up everything from advertising, ticket purchasing, hiring, and promotions. She learned the ropes from Preston Jr and continues as many traditions as she can with a modern look. Bradley and the family join the rodeos when they can.
